As we are told in this quote from John Piper: "What women rightly long for is spiritual and moral initiative from a man, not spiritual and moral domination."

Trying to find the right person to share your life with is no easy feat, and sometimes it seems that the challenge is even more difficult for Christian women. You want to look for someone who is living their faith and who will help you on your own journey with Christ in a loving and compassionate way. As we are told in this quote from John Piper: "What women rightly long for is spiritual and moral initiative from a man, not spiritual and moral domination."

When looking for Mr. Right you should reserve your love for:

1) Someone who will inspire you with their strengths

The right person for you is going to be someone whose actions and personality inspire you. This doesn't mean that the right partner for you has to be perfect. Everyone has flaws, and you yourself have flaws that he will have to accept. His strengths, however, should be strengths that you can look up to, and that fit with your own spiritual and personal goals. For example, if you are inspired by people who show kindness and compassion, then maybe someone who has other positive traits but comes off as cold and aloof is not right for you.

2) Someone who will motivate you to learn and grow

It's good to have a partner that can inspire you, and it is even better to have a partner that is interested in seeing you reach your potential as well. The right man for you will be able to see what you have to offer the world and will motivate you to become the best version of yourself that you can. He will love your strengths as much as you love his.

3) Someone who will give you encouragement and respect

Mr. Right should always make you feel safe, honored, and respected. He should not be motivating you to do better because he wants a partner that reflects more positively on himself, but because he is interested in what is best for you. He should never make you feel like you aren't good enough and like you have to become someone else in order to be enough for him. "There is no fear in love," the Bible tells us in a quote from 1 John 4:18, "but perfect love drives out fear."

Make Sure You Can Inspire, Encourage, and Motivate Yourself First

Before casting your net into the dating pool and hoping to catch Mr. Right, you should make sure that, partnered up or not, you are capable of inspiring, motivating, and encouraging yourself. Your partner should be a compliment to the strengths that you already have. He should be there to support you and help you on your quest for greater fulfillment, but you should have the ability to find fulfillment yourself.

Start looking for love because you want someone to share the joys of life with instead of someone that your joy will rely on, and you will be able to spot Mr. Right as soon as he comes along.

Spiritual Prayer

My heart rejoices in the Lord; my horn is exalted in the Lord.  My mouth is bold against my enemies because I rejoice in Your salvation. There is none Holy as the Lord, For there is none besides You, and there is no rock like our God.  Do not multiply proud speech, nor let arrogance come out of your mouth, for the Lord is the God of Knowledge, and by Him actions are examined.  The bows of the mighty are broken, but those who stumbled are girded with strength.  Those that were full have hired out themselves for bread and those that were hungry ceased to hunger.  Even the barren has borne seven and she that has many children waste away.  The Lord kills and makes alive; He brings down to the grave and brings up.  The Lord makes poor and makes rich.  He brings low and lifts up.  He raises up the poor out of the dust and lifts up the oppressed from the dunghill to make them sit with princes and inherit a throne of glory.  For the pillars of the earth belong to the Lord, and He has set the world upon them.  He will guard the feet of His saints, but the wicked will be silent in darkness.  For by strength shall no man prevail.  The adversaries of the Lord will be broken to pieces.  He will thunder against them out of heaven.  The Lord will judge the ends of the earth.  He will give strength to His king and exalt the horn of the anointed.
