Thankfully, there are some pretty convenient solutions to such pesky television disputes. Here are four ways that you can help your family stop fighting over the remote:
1) Get another TV
Nowadays, finding a good quality TV doesn't have to break the bank. True, the higher end models that come with all of the latest bells and whistles cost a pretty penny, but if you are just looking for a regular TV that will play your shows, then you will likely be able to find something within your budget. Do a bit of research online before heading to the store to see which set comes with the best reviews.
2) Sign up for a TV service which allows for recording
Many TV services allow for you to record your shows and watch them later, or to watch TV shows on demand. TV providers also offer some pretty attractive deals for new clients, so take a look around and see if you will be able to get these bonus features for the same or even a lower price than you are paying now.
3) Assign everyone a different weekday
If getting a new TV or a new TV service is currently out of the question, then it may be a good idea to divide up the days of the week among your family members. Ask everyone when their must-watch shows air and see if you can draw up a schedule that will make them all happy.
4) Encourage generosity and sharing
The three points above are all very practical and sensible solutions to the problem of TV remote disputes. At the end of the day, however, you do not want to be using them to put a Band-Aid on a clearly larger issue. TV shows are not worth fighting with your family about, and if the remote has your family members getting into serious arguments, then it is time to sit everybody down and teach them a thing or two about sharing and generosity.
Remind everyone that Christians are called to be generous and giving, and nowhere more so than amongst their family members. Hebrews 13:16, for example, tells us to "not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased." God does not want to see His followers getting into fights over something as petty as the TV remote. You can definitely get a new TV or a new TV service in order to allow everyone to watch what they want to watch, but make sure that you first encourage your family to always show each other kindness and generosity in all circumstances.

And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.
