Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?
What you put inside your body has a major effect on how you feel on a day-to-day basis and on how good your health is overall. Amidst the hustle and bustle of life it can be difficult to spend time thinking about your diet, but your quality of life could be suffering because of it. Our bodies were fashioned by God and given to use to take good care of. In 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 we read:
"Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies."
Use this Bible quote to spiritually inspire to seek good health and wellness for your body. If you experience some of the five signs below, then your diet may be in need of an overhaul:
1) You are always going out to eat
It is possible to make healthy choices when eating out, but eating out all the time still likely means that you are consuming bigger portions than you would at home. Help your family avoid going out so much by planning several night's worth of meals ahead of time and getting everyone involved in meal preparation.
2) You are always feeling tired
Feeling tired and lethargic can occur for a number of reasons, but poor diet choices are almost always involved to some extent. Eating well-balanced meals high in essential nutrients can help keep your energy levels up better than downing several cups of coffee throughout the day.
3) You experience frequent energy highs and lows
Perhaps instead of always feeling tired you cycle through extreme energy highs and lows. This could be because you are consuming too much sugar, as well as meals that are too large and too far apart. Cut back on your sugar intake, cut down on the size of your meals, increase how often you eat, and your energy levels will likely even out.
4) You get sick easily
Barring certain medical conditions, a weak immune system is often the result of a diet low in important vitamins. If you always seem to catch every bug that is going around at work or school and find that it takes you a long time to recover, then you should try to eat more fruits and vegetables.
5) You feel bloated
If you often feel bloated for no apparent reason, then the culprit could be salt. Having too much salt in your diet is also a risk factor for conditions such as heart disease and high blood pressure, so try cut out salty snacks and take it easier on the salt shaker.
You can honor God with your body by watching out for these signs and changing your diet accordingly. Our bodies are temples for the Holy Spirit and should be treated as such. Care for yourself and, ultimately, you will be caring for God as well.
Spiritual Prayer
For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.
