"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her."

Is your wife's birthday coming up but you aren't sure what you should get her? These four gift ideas are simple, easy, and sure to show her that you care. The great thing is that, if you want to get her more than just one of these items, they can all be mixed and matched together. Just take note of your wife's likes and interests, and you will have no trouble coming up with the perfect present!

1) Thoughtful Jewelry

Jewelry is probably a safe bet for most women, but it helps if you can make it a little bit more personalized and thoughtful. In the time leading up to your wife's birthday, take special note of what kind of jewelry she personally likes. Has her taste recently changed? Has she started wearing colorful rings? Does she prefer simple necklaces or long, sparkly, and dangly ones? Get her something that matches her taste and that you know she will wear.

2) Tickets to a show or event

Think about the things your wife likes, such as her interests and favorite activities. Does she have a favorite band? Check if they are playing a show near you any time soon. Does she like animals? Many zoos offer backstage passes to some of their exhibits, which can make for a very fun and memorable experience. Check for interesting shows or exhibits that are coming to town for something that she might enjoy.

3) Something Engraved

There are a wide variety of things that you can engrave with a sweet message or a simple "I love you." Most engraving places offer a selection of jewelry such as lockets, necklaces, and bracelets, but also other items like picture frames and key chains. Take a look around and see if anything interesting catches your eye that would be just right for her. Small items such as necklaces or key chains can be paired with other gifts to add that extra little bit of thoughtfulness.

4) A Personalized Mug

Many coffee shops and home decor stores carry personal mugs on which you can write a message. This would be the perfect gift for the coffee or tea loving wife. You can also do a quick Google search for "personalized mugs" which will lead you to several sites that can help you decorate a mug with messages and photos. Make something that is about her interests or about the two of you, include a short and sweet message, and you will have a great and personalized gift.

Making Your Love Known

A husband's most important Biblical duty to his wife is given in Ephesians 5:25:

"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her."

As a Christian husband it is your job to heed this encouraging Biblical quote and work hard to make your love for your wife known through your words and your actions. It's true that birthday presents are not the most important components of a successful marriage, but finding a thoughtful gift is a sign that you listen, that you care, and that it is important to you to make your wife happy.

Spiritual Prayer

My heart rejoices in the Lord; my horn is exalted in the Lord.  My mouth is bold against my enemies because I rejoice in Your salvation. There is none Holy as the Lord, For there is none besides You, and there is no rock like our God.  Do not multiply proud speech, nor let arrogance come out of your mouth, for the Lord is the God of Knowledge, and by Him actions are examined.  The bows of the mighty are broken, but those who stumbled are girded with strength.  Those that were full have hired out themselves for bread and those that were hungry ceased to hunger.  Even the barren has borne seven and she that has many children waste away.  The Lord kills and makes alive; He brings down to the grave and brings up.  The Lord makes poor and makes rich.  He brings low and lifts up.  He raises up the poor out of the dust and lifts up the oppressed from the dunghill to make them sit with princes and inherit a throne of glory.  For the pillars of the earth belong to the Lord, and He has set the world upon them.  He will guard the feet of His saints, but the wicked will be silent in darkness.  For by strength shall no man prevail.  The adversaries of the Lord will be broken to pieces.  He will thunder against them out of heaven.  The Lord will judge the ends of the earth.  He will give strength to His king and exalt the horn of the anointed.
