"Look to me! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with him, and he with me." (Revelation 3:20)

Our Connection to our Lord and His Teachings

It often happens that people slowly and gradually drift away from Jesus Christ and are left without any divine presence in their lives. They lose any sense of a spiritual direction. In their mind, that makes God distant and hard to reach. But the truth is quite the opposite. God is right here, standing at your door, waiting for you to let him in. Jesus Christ himself said "Look to me! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with him, and he with me." (Revelation 3:20)

Always remember that God is never far away, and connecting with him can powerfully transform your life. If you open your heart to God, he will come in and mend it in every possible way. His presence will bring you peace and restore spiritual direction in your life. Through his inner work of amazing grace, he will transform and restore you to wholeness, and the only thing you have to do is invite him in!

The presence of the Lord will bring satisfaction to your life, the warmth of love, new strength and a willingness to throw yourself into the world and love with all your might. This will help you find spiritual inspiration. There will also be a renewed hunger for God and his everlasting presence. God should not be an occasional visitor, but a permanent guest in your heart, a King, and the only way to do that is to invite him in and let him stay.

The Word of God is also a powerful tool which can make your life better than ever. If you build a relationship with God through his teachings and his Word and make a place for him in your heart, you will find that your life will never again be the same.

Different Ways of Achieving Spiritual Inspiration

Spirituality can give you hope, stability, and love. The connection you have with God is a sacred one. There are many people who want to be in touch with God, or are already on their way, but they want to learn about ways to boost their spiritual inspiration which will make their connection to God stronger. Here are some tips on various things to do when looking to get better spiritual inspiration or spiritual direction. Using these tips, anyone can achieve spiritual growth.

Expressing gratitude for all God has to offer

A lot of us turn to God only when we need something, but if you want a real relationship with God, you have to show some gratitude for the things in your life that are going right. People tend to drown in their problems without even realizing that God has put so much beauty and love around them. It is important to realize what you have been blessed with and express gratitude for all the things God gave you. Simply expressing gratitude can be a powerful tool in your quest for spiritual direction.

Asking for help

But being grateful doesn’t mean that you have to keep quiet when it comes to your problems. God will always be there to help you get through the tough times. Whether you are experiencing problems in your love life, at work, or even if it is a loved one that is facing a hardship, God is there for you. Talk to him and don’t be afraid to ask him for spiritual direction. His love knows no limits!

Embracing positive relationships

Building positive relationships in your life can serve as a great source of spiritual inspiration. Take the time to learn how others apply the teachings of Jesus Christ to their daily lives. As your relationship with the Lord grows, reach out to others to help them improve their own relationships with God. There are likely already many people in your life who can help you find spiritual direction if you let them close to you.

Joining a community

Joining a community can sometimes have a very beneficial effect on your spiritual inspiration. When you are surrounded with people who are also longing to connect with God, the energy and dedication of those people might spark a flame in your own heart. Most Christian churches gladly accept visitors, and they see it as their duty to help you on your journey to living a life based on the teachings of Jesus Christ. A community will most likely also have group activities that you can do to further develop your relationship with God, such as singing, spending time outside, helping others, and participating in the arts, among other hobbies.

Journaling

Writing has the power to allow you to see God in all his beauty and can serve as a powerful source of spiritual inspiration. By expressing your thoughts and feelings in a journal, you might be surprised to find how much you can uncover about your relationship with God in the process. When journaling as a way to connect with God and gain spiritual direction, the first thing you have to do is invite Him in – begin with a prayer. This simply gives you the freedom to write (or draw!) anything that comes to mind. Be truthful and not deceptive – remember that God’s love is unconditional.

A lot of people get the inspiration to write poetry, but they are afraid of creating something bad. When it comes to expressing yourself and your love for God, there is no bad. Everything you write is a part of who you are, and God loves you for it. When writing spiritual poetry, simply pray and write whatever comes to mind. Here is an example of a spiritual poem which you can use as spiritual inspiration in your journaling experiences.

They look down on my scarred skin,

They say I don’t have worth,

You see the scars and You are glad,

That I am on this earth.

You put me here oh Lord Almighty

To bear my heavy cross

I do my best, my heart to sing

And never gather moss.

Your love I know to be eternal

I feel it in my heart

I can overcome all strife

For us to never part.

Creativity Comes From God

God is the Creator. And he created us in his image, which means that he made us in a way that every single one of us has a huge potential for creativity. Although there is not much talk in Christian communities about creativity, we believe it is a crucial aspect of being human. Historically, part of the reason why there wasn’t much talk of it was that theologians argued that only God could create something, as in producing something out of nothing. Humans can only make something out of something that already exists.

But, some people like J.R.R Tolkien argued for the idea of sub-creation (for example, his fantasy novels) as a form of worship. He argued that by expressing your creativity, you are expressing the divine in yourself by becoming a creator and therefore creating a connection with God.

There can be no doubt that God loves beauty. Both his work and his worship are tremendously beautiful. So why would anyone doubt that God is pleased when we create something beautiful? Although our creative power cannot match his own, he as our Father is proud when we make use of the talents that he bestowed upon us.

The artist is made in God’s image and uses materials that God gave him to find spiritual direction. Every one of us is an artist in our own way. The only issue is allowing yourself to serve God and connect to God by creating. Another point to be made in the argument that God loves our creativity is that the second task he gave Adam was to name all of the animals of the earth. So the second task humanity was given was to be creative. The human use of language is also a form of creativity, especially when it takes the form of poetry or prose.

So don’t have any doubt in your mind that God loves your creativity and wants you to use it to get closer to him and develop a relationship with him. Any creative act is a new way to honor Him and show Him that His people use the gifts He gave them. Even if you think your creative powers can’t make anything ‘good,' just remember that your creativity is a gift and whatever you make, God will love it and love you more for it.

So use all your gifts and get creative to find some spiritual direction and get closer to the Maker.

Spiritual Prayer

"O Lord God, do not destroy Your people, Your inheritance, which You have redeemed through Your greatness, which You have brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand.  Remember Your servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.  Do not look at the stubbornness of this people or at their wickedness or their sin.  Otherwise, the land from which You brought us may say, 'Because the Lord was not able to bring them into the land which He promised them and because He hated them, He has brought them out to slay them in the wilderness.'  Yet they are your people, Your inheritance, whom You brought out by Your mighty power and by Your stretched-out arm."
