Many Christian women enjoy expressing themselves in writing, but there are times when inspiration can seem hard to come by. Whether you are journaling, blogging, writing articles, working on a novel, or writing anything from poetry to prose, you may have caught yourself wondering how you are suppose to pick what to write about. Where is the inspiration supposed to come from?
Thankfully, it is a simple task to train yourself to see inspiration in your everyday life and your everyday surroundings. "Write what you know" is a great axiom to keep in mind, and it doesn't mean that you have to devote yourself to the study of various new fields in order to be able to write something great. If you first take a close look at your own life you may be surprised by how much you "know" and are an expert about already.
The trick is to be attentive as you go about your daily life. Examine everything you do, say, read, and learn as a possible source of inspiration. This may sound a bit exhausting, but do not worry, with practice you will find yourself doing it naturally. It can help to keep a notebook on you at all times. Or, if you do not feel like carrying one around, then simply use a note app on your smartphone. Inspiration is everywhere. You may not be able to write about every single mundane thing in your life, but your life is probably deeper and fuller of inspiration than you give it credit for.
Another fantastic yet often overlooked source in inspiration is your faith. If you spend some time every day being thankful for the gift of writing that God has given you, then you will find that the ideas and words flow much more easily and naturally. A lot of the pressure is often taken off when we realize that we are only conduits through which God works, and that our talents are gifts which He has given us.
The Bible is overflowing in inspirational quotes that reflect this humble and thankful attitude. In James 1:17, for example, we are told that "every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows." Furthermore, in 1 Peter 4:10, we are reminded that our gifts are not meant to be kept to ourselves, but to be shared with others. Peter the Apostle makes this clear when he writes: "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms."
Remain mindful of the fact that your talent for writing is a gift from God which is meant to be expressed to the world. God is always busy filling our lives with joy and wonder that we can share with other people, and it is our job to open our eyes and our hearts wide enough to see it. Learn to look at your life and truly take notice of all that Jehovah has given you, and you will never run out of ideas to write about.

He brings low and lifts up. He raises up the poor out of the dust and lifts up the oppressed from the dunghill to make them sit with princes and inherit a throne of glory. For the pillars of the earth belong to the Lord, and He has set the world upon them. He will guard the feet of His saints, but the wicked will be silent in darkness. For by strength shall no man prevail. The adversaries of the Lord will be broken to pieces. He will thunder against them out of heaven. The Lord will judge the ends of the earth. He will give strength to His king and exalt the horn of the anointed.
