Marriage
"Rejoice in the Lord always," Christians are commanded in a motivating Bible verse from Philippians 4:4. "I will say it again: Rejoice!"
While there is no universal secret to a happy marriage, there is one aspect that most marriages won't be able to go long without, and that's laughter. Neither you nor your spouse need to be constantly cracking jokes or buckling over and crying of mirth, but you should have the ability to make each other smile and laugh from time to time. Even the most serious of couples should know what they can do for the other in order to improve their mood and help them see the lighter side of life.
Laughter is one of the best methods of bringing people together. Sharing in a humorous, lighthearted moment can automatically make you feel closer to almost anyone, especially the person you have chosen to spend the rest of your life with. If you are able to laugh together, then you will feel much better about the time you spend together. Laughter can encourage the two of you to be more warm to each other, and therefore less serious and critical when someone makes a small mistake.
Knowing how to laugh and not take things too seriously is also a great way to keep from getting too stressed, which in turn can have numerous benefits for your marriage. When one or both partners are too stressed, it can lead to a breakdown of communication and intimacy, which can result in even more problems down the line. Knowing how to step back and laugh at even the most overwhelming situations can help those situations seem more manageable and allow you to spend time with your partner without being preoccupied with other matters.
The best way to change your perspective and have some more fun with life is to try not to take anything too personally and to be more willing to go with the flow. Life isn't going to throw more than you can manage at you, so there is no reason to let it get you down enough to not be able to laugh. There is always a bright side to every situation, you just need to practice having the eyes to see it.
"Rejoice in the Lord always," Christians are commanded in a motivating Bible verse from Philippians 4:4. "I will say it again: Rejoice!"
Laughter is a way of rejoicing in the Lord. It is a way of showing that we are grateful for all that He has given us, especially our spouse. If you feel that your marriage could benefit from some more laughter and a more lighthearted attitude, then go ahead and talk to your spouse about trying to make the change together. It's hard to imagine that they would think it's a bad idea. But, if they have a hard time seeing the point, then just work on changing your own attitude and showing them the benefits of laugher by example. Before long, even the most serious of spouses won't be able to help but join you in looking at the lighter side of life.
Spiritual Prayer
My heart rejoices in the Lord; my horn is exalted in the Lord. My mouth is bold against my enemies because I rejoice in Your salvation. There is none Holy as the Lord, For there is none besides You, and there is no rock like our God. Do not multiply proud speech, nor let arrogance come out of your mouth, for the Lord is the God of Knowledge, and by Him actions are examined. The bows of the mighty are broken, but those who stumbled are girded with strength. Those that were full have hired out themselves for bread and those that were hungry ceased to hunger. Even the barren has borne seven and she that has many children waste away. The Lord kills and makes alive; He brings down to the grave and brings up. The Lord makes poor and makes rich. He brings low and lifts up. He raises up the poor out of the dust and lifts up the oppressed from the dunghill to make them sit with princes and inherit a throne of glory. For the pillars of the earth belong to the Lord, and He has set the world upon them. He will guard the feet of His saints, but the wicked will be silent in darkness. For by strength shall no man prevail. The adversaries of the Lord will be broken to pieces. He will thunder against them out of heaven. The Lord will judge the ends of the earth. He will give strength to His king and exalt the horn of the anointed.
