The Christian God is a highly personal and highly involved creator, which is why He is referred to as "Father."

God created the world out of a transcendent, all encompassing love, and He continues to sustain it at each and every moment with this same love. Christians are called to always and everywhere give thanks to God for creating us. The Christian God is a highly personal and highly involved creator, which is why He is referred to as "Father." Christians know that their thankfulness for all of their blessings can and should be directed towards God with sincere gratitude.

Let's take a look at three different inspiring Bible verses which exemplify the grateful attitude that Christians are asked to cultivate every single day:

"The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise Him."

- Psalm 28:7

That beautifully encouraging Psalm is referencing the fact that our heart cannot help but leap for joy when we truly realize the extent to which God is actively involved in our lives. The minute you turn to God for strength and trust your heart to His hands is the minute you realize how much He has helped you. Trust in God and you will have ample reason to be grateful.

"Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe."

- Hebrews 12:28

Not only do we have to be thankful to God for all that He has given us, but also for all that He has promised us. Through Christ's sacrifice we will all receive the kingdom that cannot be shaken, and we will all one day take our rightful place in this kingdom. For this wondrous feat God should be afforded all of our reverence and thankfulness.

"So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness."

- Colossians 2:6-7

Jesus not only solidified our future with God in heaven, but He guaranteed an amazing present for us as well. When we live our lives rooted in Christ we gain the courage and love needed to truly live and get the most out of every single moment. Our hearts need to be overflowing with thankfulness in order to receive the numerous blessings that come with receiving Jesus Christ as Lord.

Gratitude is one of the most important virtues of the Christian religion. It seems, in fact, that Christians really would not be Christians without always being aware of and grateful for what Jesus has done for us. Scripture clearly calls for us to live a life of thankfulness, to be alive in the blessings that each of us has been given by God. Cultivating an attitude of thankfulness is important because it can help one endure through just about anything in life. Learn to appreciate what you have instead of worrying about what you do not have, and you will begin to see the world in a whole new light.

Spiritual Prayer

And Mary said:

“My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me—
holy is his name. His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation. He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts. He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble. He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty. He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful to Abraham and his descendants forever, just as he promised our ancestors.”
