"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."

Women

Many Christian women unfortunately struggle with issues of self-confidence. They find it difficult to voice their opinions and take charge even if they know that they are right. They mistakenly believe that everyone around them has got it all figured out, while only they are left with feelings of anxiety and uncertainty. It is extremely important for your personal and spiritual growth to put an end to these beliefs and to learn to believe in yourself. Here are three steps you can take today to building your confidence levels:

- Realize that you are not alone

It can be comforting and empowering to realize that you are not the only person out there struggling with feelings of insecurity and low self-confidence. Almost everyone, even those who seem most confident to you, struggle with such feelings once in a while. Some of your closest friends and family members likely experience these emotions on a daily basis. You've just never realized it because they are probably just as good as you at hiding it. It's okay to not always know what you are doing, because chances are that everyone around you is also figuring it out as they go along.

- Realize that you are just as capable as everyone else

A lack of self-confidence often comes from the mistaken belief that we are somehow not as well-equipped to deal with things as everyone else is. As discussed above, this is definitely not the case. You are just as capable as everyone else of trying new things, growing as a person, and becoming more sure of yourself and your own abilities. The people who you think have got it all together most definitely did not start off that way. Do not envy their confidence. Work instead to become just as confident as they are. You have all of the same tools and abilities as they do, and you are just as capable of believing in yourself.

- Realize that you have nothing to fear with God on your side

"So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised."

This encouraging Biblical quote from Hebrews 10:35-36 shows us that the Bible calls Christians to be confident in themselves. Confidence helps us persevere through difficult times, allowing us to hang in there until we receive the rewards promised to us by God.

Confidence is also something that comes naturally when we realize that God is always by our side and always looking out for us. Why should you fear anything in the world when God in heaven is there to protect you? If you ever need to be reminded that there is nothing to fear when our true home lies in the spiritual rather than the physical world, then call to mind these inspiring words from 2 Corinthians 4:18:

"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."
